What is WYSPA?

You have 10 minutes to capture your audience’s attention. You know what you want to say, but do you truly know how to say it? The WYSPA Off-site Academic Presentation Seminars (Polish: WYjazdowe Seminaria Prezentacji Akademickich) is a 4-day event where you learn to present in a way that ensures people genuinely listen to you.

We record your presentations, analyze them, and provide constructive feedback so you can eliminate unconscious habits and gain confidence. This is more than just a workshop—it’s a space for experimentation and networking. Because a great presentation is not just about what you say, but how you say it. Ready for the challenge?

WYSPA ia a training and integration retreat where participants engage in workshops on presentation techniques, storytelling, designing effective slides, and tailoring content to their audience. The camp is primarily, but not exclusively, directed at students in STEM-related fields.

The program is packed with activities: scientific presentations, critical feedback sessions, hands-on workshops, and meetings with inspiring guests. But WYSPA isn’t just about intensive learning—it’s also about building connections. Shared activities, like PowerPoint Karaoke, help participants relax and strengthen relationships, making it easier to handle the stress of public speaking.

Edition 2026

We’re excited to invite you to the 2026 edition of the WYSPA camp, which will take place 17-20 September 2026 in the stunning surroundings of the European Centre for Geological Education in Chęciny, Poland. You can expect a four-day immersive experience designed for those who want to develop their communication skills, public speaking abilities, and teamwork. This event is more than just workshops – it’s a chance to grow, connect, and be inspired.

What makes WYSPA unique?

Every presentation is recorded, allowing participants to see themselves through others’ eyes and recognize habits they weren’t aware of—nervous movements, tics, or lack of eye contact. While this experience can be challenging at first, it proves to be incredibly valuable.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Logistics

What are the start and end times of the camp?

The group will depart from Warsaw by train in the morning (around 7–8 AM). On the final day, we’ll leave Chęciny around 3 PM, arriving back in Warsaw around 6 PM.

Do I need to travel to Warsaw to join the group?

Not necessarily. However, public transport to Chęciny is limited. You can choose to travel to Kielce at your own expense and join the group bus from there.

Can I arrive later or leave earlier?

It’s possible, but you’ll miss part of the program if you do.

Is there Wi-Fi and access to power outlets on site?

Yes, both Wi-Fi and outlets are available in the rooms and workshop spaces.

Organization

Can I get an invoice for my university or company?

Yes, we can issue both pro forma and VAT invoices based on the provided details.

What are the official regulation of the camp?

Do I have to be a student or study a science-related field?

No! You don’t have to study biotechnology, live in Warsaw, or even be a student. All we ask is that you come with an open mind, ready to learn and share.

Do I need to bring a laptop or office supplies?

Presentations are submitted in advance to the organisers, office supplies are provided by the organisers. We encourage (but it is not obligatory) to bring your own laptop with you for workshops.

What's the difference between active and passive participation?

Active participants deliver a presentation and receive personalized feedback during a critical feedback session. Passive participants attend without presenting.

Is there a dress code?

There’s no formal dress code, but since we simulate a conference environment, we recommend at least a business casual outfit for workshop sessions.

Is this a conference, a workshop, or a camp?

It’s a workshop-style camp focused on building practical skills in communication and collaboration.

What should I pack?

  • Clothing for 4 days (including at least one business casual outfit)

  • Your favorite snacks and drinks

  • A pen for jotting down thoughts

  • Laptop/tablet (optional)

  • A lab coat (if you have one)

  • A great attitude!

Will I receive a certificate of participation?

Yes – both active and passive participants will receive certificates at the end of the camp.

Can I cancel and get a refund?

Cancellation terms are outlined in the official camp regulations.

Can I join even if I’m not affiliated with a university?

Absolutely! University affiliation is not required.

ACADEMIC & CONTENT-RELATED

How are participants selected?

We operate on a first come, first served basis based on payment. To receive payment details, you must first complete the registration form.

Are presentations only in Polish?

Workshops are conducted in Polish, but you’re welcome to present in English.

Does my presentation need to be in PowerPoint?

Not necessarily. You can use tools like Canva or Gamma AI. We recommend submitting a PDF version along with any links.

Do I have to present my own research?

You don’t need to present your personal research, but you must respect copyright rules.

Can I reuse an old presentation?

Yes, but we encourage you to create a new one. Your audience may be unfamiliar with your field, so aim for clarity and accessibility.

Will there be a book of abstracts?

Yes. Abstracts will be published in the exact form submitted. We do not edit them – your text will be used for peer analysis.

How long should my presentation be?

You’ll have 10 minutes for your talk + 5 minutes for questions. This format mirrors many academic conferences.

I'm a beginner and nervous to present. Do I have to be an active participant?

No, you can choose passive participation. However, presenting and receiving feedback is a valuable growth opportunity.

Can I present with a partner?

Yes, though each participant must pay the full fee. We recommend individual presentations to maximize your feedback.

Can I submit more than one presentation?

What are the abstract requirements?

To receive the abstract guidelines, please complete the registration form. The requirements will be sent to you by email along with the payment details.
